Former CW Editor-in-Chief Luke Connell Named ‘Rising Star’

Editor & Publisher has named former Crimson White Editor-in-Chief Luke Connell as one of the magazine’s 25 “Rising Stars” of newspaper publishing. Connell, the 2001-2002 CW editor, is now city editor of the Herald-Journal in Spartanburg, S.C.

In its annual “25 Under 35” list published in April 2013, Editor & Publisher cited Connell for his role in the Herald-Journal’s award-winning community coverage. The paper recently earned the South Carolina Press Association’s President’s Cup award for overall excellence for the fifth year in a row.

“In addition to his finely tuned instincts for news and coverage, Connell contributed to the paper’s quarterly magazine, helping coordinate coverage and even design pages as needed,” the magazine reported.
